Free Art Project at ASU Art Museum on 1st Saturdays

Apparently the ASU Art Museum is always free!  So hey- another alternative to the 'dinner & a movie" date night!  And as a bonus, they have a free art project for the kids the first Saturday of each month.  I hadn't heard about this before, but it sounds like a great cultural (& free!) activity to take your kids to.

Quoted from ASU Art Museum's site:

"First Saturdays for Families
11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Location: ASU Art Museum
Cost: free
Curator: Andrea Feller

First Saturdays for Families is a free program at ASU Art Museum that helps teach children about art and encourages them to be creative.

Stop by on the first Saturday of each month (excluding holidays) to learn about one artist whose work is in the museum, and then make your own project based on what that artist does.

There’s no cost to participate in our events and kids get to keep their art projects. It's a perfect day for kids 4-12 and their families, and no registration is required. Just stop by the museum any time between 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month!

Visit the About section of our Web site or our blog for project details."

Their calendar doesn't have this event listed at all for Saturday, Jan. 2nd, probably because it's close to New Year's Day.  So the next one on their calendar is Saturday, Feb. 6th.
Thanks, azcentral.com!

Hi Debbie,
Thanks for the great blog post! I just wanted to clarify something though: the map you placed on the blog is actually for one very specific event, next Tuesday, Dec. 15. It's a free holiday mixer and anyone can attend, but other than this one event, guests should NOT park in those lots or risk being ticketed!

The museum does have free parking all the time though: it's in marked spaces directly outside of the Ceramics Research Center (CRC)on the northeast corner of Mill Ave. and 10th Street. Please just sign in at the desk of either the CRC or the main museum building when you park in these spaces.

And yes, ASU Art Museum is closed January 1 and 2 for the New Years holiday, but we'll have a First Saturday event most other months beginning again in February!

Feel free to contact me with any questions or you can always check out our blog too: www.ASUArtMuseum.wordpress.com.

Happy Holidays!
